You guuuuuys! I listened to my first podcast in 2018. Yep, its true, podcast virgin. Frankly, Im not sure what took me so long. I feel like I’m getting work done while being entertained! WIN WIN!
For this first podcast post I’m going to share a random selection. Hopefully there is something for everyone.
Lucy is an expert in comparison and how comparisonitis (yep its a thang) can trip us up! My favorite snippet from this episode was when she was asked about her “self care” routine. Her response was not typical like take a bath or treat yourself. Her answer was brilliant and life changing, “saying no when I mean it and saying yes when I mean it.” But not in that diva way, she said. In the sense that you are making YOUR life about YOU. Saying no to things that don’t bring joy. Saying yes to things that do! (plus saying no will also free up your yes time!) “Living your life at full potency!”
I by chance stumbled upon this interview with Maxwell Ryan of Apartment Therapy. Maxwell talks about the definition of home and what makes a happy home. My take away, you want to walk in your home and feel safe, comfortable, and well, at home! You don’t have to break the bank to get a beautiful home either. My house is home to me. It’s a space I feel most creative and inspired. It’s a place I’ve made home to my two little boys. Not a surface is unmarked by their hands, a car, a dinosaur, or food.
I take pride in making this space ours. We’ve taken our time. Adding slowly over the years. I don’t want a room to feel rushed or thrown together. I don’t want to spend money on something I don’t truly love and come home and feel any negative energy towards a piece of furniture that was too expensive. There are hand made down pieces, borrowed art work (which is my all time favorite piece in my house), thrift store finds, estate sale scores, and craigslist deals. And let us not forget IKEA!
I’ve never felt this pressure to have the perfect space. I’ve just truly loved making it my space. Our space. That’s the fun part. There’s no rush!
My house is far from perfect. It’s slowly coming together, it’s changing as we do, it’s lived in, it’s cozy and inviting. It’s where I feel home.

(4) Hashtag Authentic with Sara Tasker: The Digital Butterfly Effect with Jon Ronson
The above is Sara’s interview with Jon which led me to checking out his entire series. I do recommend listening to Sara’s interview first before diving into the series – just to get a taste.
The Butterfly Effect is an audible series about how the internet has revolutionized one very specific industry and the effects it’s had along the way. This series is very different from the podcasts I shared above so I suggest listening to Sara’s interview first, if you are not familiar with Jon. He has also written “The Men Who Stare At Goats”, “The Physcopath Test”, “So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed” and “Frank.”
